A board pack is not a financial report with a cover page. It is a decision document, and it should be readable by anyone who runs the business.
One page of numbers, three of context
Lead with cash, then margin, then the two or three operational measures that actually move them. Everything else belongs in an appendix nobody has to read.
The test is simple. Hand it to someone who was not in the month and see whether they can tell you what went well, what did not, and what you are doing about it.
